10/08/05

So five days after I admit that I'm never going to finish my manga translations, Del Rey finally announces that they've licensed the Pichi Pichi Pitch manga to be released in English! Information throughout this site has been updated to reflect this announcement.

Well, I might as well be honest.

This year I am working at a very demanding (yet incredibly fulfilling) job in an inner-city Minneapolis high school. All of my free time, what little I have of it, I prefer to devote to writing the novel which has been burning inside of me for a long time now, and only this year is just starting to bust out and get itself on paper. So what does this all mean? Well, it means that, for the foreseeable future, I have neither the time nor the energy to complete my Pichi Pichi Pitch translations.

The information on this website, however, is thorough and complete, all the way up through the very last pages of the manga. If you are reading the Japanese manga and you can't understand what the characters are saying, just refer to any of the pages in the Character Guide on this site, and you'll find your answer. I have translated pretty much ALL of the important scenes in the manga, up through the end, and have sprinkled those scenes throughout the information in the Character Guide.

Sorry to disappoint, but that's life. Or rather, that's my life. ;)

It looks like the names of two characters from the second story arc are actually Michal and Michel, not Mikaru and Mikeru, as I had previously left them. So I've updated the entire site to reflect that. For full explanations of the etymology/translation of these two names, visit Michal's profile and Michel's name notes.

I also updated the links list.

Some more minor updates this time around...

  • I've revised the Site FAQ and added a bunch of new material covering licenses of the Pichi Pichi Pitch anime and manga.
  • Added some new links in the "Fanlistings" section.

Please don't ask me when I'll be able to finish translations of the rest of the manga. I'll finish when I have enough free time. Please understand that this is a hobby for me, and that work and other real-life obligations have to come first. Okay?

5/24/05

Just some very minor updates this time around...

  • Added a very nice scan of the cover of volume 07 to the buying manga page.
  • Adopted some cute things from Super Live! and put them on the front index.
  • Added a minor note about Lucia's name to her profile, submitted by a visitor to this site.

I will be able to start work on more translations this summer! Yay!

3/23/05

Took long enough, didn't it? ;) No, I haven't added any new translations. Yes, stone me now. ^^;; What I DID to, however, was update every section of the *information* on this site to reflect the ending of the manga, and added a ton of new scans throughout the site. So basically, if you want to find out how the manga ends, just read the spoilers and dialogue snippets I've posted at this update. Yay!

By the way, volume 07 of the manga is slated for release on 4/30/2005. In case you're wondering what will be in it, the April 2005 issue of Nakayoshi lists:

  • "Hoshi Furu Umi no Serenade" (40 pages)
  • "Soshite, Mirai e no Super Love Song!" (30 pages)
  • Character design artwork
  • Results of the 2nd annual character popularity contest (which have already been published in the January 2005 issue of Nakayoshi, but whatever)
  • Three complete short stories by Hanamori Pink (unrelated to PPP)

And now, a complete list of updates to this site:

By the way, it's time for some pimpage: If you miss "Mother Symphony" and are looking for an online hangout for Pichi Pichi Pitch fans, please visit the Kibou no Kaneoto forums! Lots of the old crew from Mother Symphony is there, and lots of fun new people, too.
