Above are screenshots that show the design of each major subsection of the site. Please forgive the awful dithering in all of these screenshots; the actual designs themselves used top-quality graphics. Which was problematic in the end, because all those graphics just ended up using up too much bandwidth.
This layout was up for 3/4 of a year, from August 2002 to May 2003. The text-based portions of the site (the Melody, Harmony, and Rhythym sections) used doujinshi images and a tables layout fixed at a width of 750 pixels. The multimedia portions of the site (the Accompaniment and Live Concert sections) used liquid tables that fit any resolution. BTW, this layout was the first layout I made using PHP includes. It made switching the layout again later much, much easier.
As much as I loved these designs, the greatest flaw with the overall layout scheme was that it was too graphics-intensive. Some of the Harmony and Melody subpages used 80 KB of graphics per page. When Starlight Pops started becoming more popular and consuming more bandwidth than I could afford, I knew that it was time to make a new layout. Also, I received several comments that it was disconcerting to have the layout change so drastically between the different sections of the site, which is certainly true, so I vowed to make the different subsections of the site more uniform the next time I designed a layout for Pops.
