Further DisclaimersTwo issues that you should probably be aware of... I) Legality The existence of this site is purely illegal in the sense that it reproduces (sometimes large) chunks of text from the novel Good Omens without permission from the authors; also, fanart and fanfiction archived in this site infringes upon copyrighted characters. However, as I state on just about every page (*points below*), this is a FANSITE, meant purely for fun and the interest of others, and this site is not intended to generate any sort of profit for me. So I bite my thumb at intellectual property, but heck, I'm technically not doing a completely bad thing. Crowley would be disappointed in me, since even though I violate the law in making this site, I'm still standing on somewhat firm moral ground. (Although I can practically hear Aziraphale muttering "Tsk, tsk" in the background.) II) Author Bias I've spent a lot of time analyzing and picking apart Crowley's character. However, the conclusions I've drawn, and the opinions that I offer in the information section of this site, might vary significantly from what the original authors of the book intended. ^^;; It's very true that no reader can walk away from a book without a slightly different vision/interpretation in their minds, since we all approach books with perspectives colored by our own experiences, predispositions, and biases. Hence, my experience reading the novel Good Omens and my interpretation of Crowley's character might be very different from someone else's. However, I try to support most of my claims and analysis on this site with quotations and examples from the book. I personally believe that it's difficult to read another's work without first understanding the position of the author behind that work. I've found this true in my experience with academic writing, but it also applies to works of fiction, television shows and movies, books, comic books, and even something as mundane as character analysis on a fan website. I believe that the novel Good Omens gave me a brief insight into the philosophies of Gaiman and Pratchett at the time that the book was written; most of their *position* on religious matters is expressed through the characters of Crowley and Adam. That having been said, it's about time that I stated MY position as the author of this website: I am Christian but not a church-goer, I am not a student of religious philosophy, and my understanding of the multiple levels of mythical allusion in the book is very limited. At the time that I wrote the content on this website, I'd read Gaiman before, but Good Omens was my first exposure to Pratchett. It should also be noted that large portions of this site were written while I was listening to Rob Zombie, Queen, the original soundtracks of Noir and Hellsing, and some retro Bon Jovi. (I was trying to get into the "Crowley mood" if you will. Except for the Bon Jovi, I just like them. I don't think Crowley would care much for monster romantic rock ballads.) I'm a longtime fan of Japanese anime and manga, and it was hard for me to cast aside the "squealy otaku fangirl" lens long enough to complete this little project. Now I hope that y'all can understand who I am and where I'm coming from when I write the information content on this site. <--- Discarded Core // Slither Home ---> Important Note: Page numbers in reference to quotations from the book refer to the 1996 Ace mass-market paperback edition. Disclaimer: Crowley, Aziraphale, and Good Omens are owned and copyrighted by Neil Gaiman and Terry Pratchett. Excerpts and quotes from the novel Good Omens used throughout this site are reproduced without legal permission, for which I can only hang my head sheepishly and apologize. However, this is a FANSITE, meant in the name of fun, and not intended to make a profit.
